Jiu-jitsu, the real scoop!

Hello!

I just began adding a new section on jiu-jistu and the martial arts. Starting slowly, and with the most important things — as I should. I deeply hope that my soft, heartfelt approach will have some positive impact on the awful way things are done today. Who knows? But I have to try. Anyway, I hope you enjoy it. And, as always, thank you so much for stopping by.

Sincerely,

Walt Bayless

I have been a Jiu Jitsu student of yours for many years, even though we have never meet. I came across the tape series you made entitled Ultimate Street Fighting. I have played them about fifty times. I shadow wrestle mostly because I haven’t had a partner to practice with until this last month. But even though we have never meet I think of you almost everyday and I thank you for your positive effect in my life and my nephews life. I hope someday I can meet you in person and I would like more instruction tapes if you have any more, do you? And, please let me know the next time you host a weekend class or the like. I live in SLC, UT. Morris. PS. Hope you are well and happy, Champ! PSS, I would of loved to of seen you and Jose Gracie in the UFC instead of Ken Shamrock.

    Hi Walt,

The paintings are great. Perhaps I will find a place in my school to order me a print. Have you ever though about incorprating Jiu-Jitsu into a painting, that would be awesome! By the way, I have trained with Eddie Vincent in jiu-jitsu since around 1999. I have a school in the Pittsburgh area, Absolute Martial Arts. Check out my site absolutepgh.com. I’ll bookmark your site and check back often. Later-

    Mike

    Hey Walt!
A few years ago I was struggling with some inner conflict that had to do with the nagging thought that I was giving my training inappropriate priority.. I appreciated the balance you showed in your jiu jitsu tapes. I asked you about the issue of balance in an email. Even though you didn’t even know me you responded sincerely with comments that have made a positive difference for me.
    Just wanted to say Thanks!
    Dan

    Walt,
It has taken me 16 years (since I first met you, and started training Jiu Jitsu) for me to realize what it all means to me. The lessons I have learned, and the spiritual journey of life have led me to these truths. Jiu Jitsu is not about power (like you said) it’s about self knowledge, and realizing how connected we all are. I love you Walt. Always in Faith, Jason

    Hello Walt,
My Father took me and my brother to our first martial arts lesson at a local YMCA back in 1973 when we first moved to Florida. Since that time I have studied many different disciplines of martial arts through out the years due to fascination, rehab for a genetic disability, and because I was picked on unmercifully as a child. I used to read books, watch tapes, and train with anyone I could, to learn all I could of the Arts. Unfortunately, much of the training was ego based by me and the instructors which obviously extended from insecurity and fear. I have done my best to rise above and have fallen short many times, however through it all I have learned a lot and accomplished much. With far to go to be sure, I can say that the journey has been enlightening and rewarding. I would like to share on this site that since 1997 when I first met you and the 2 years before that of wearing out your instructional videos, you have been an inspiration, a friend, a brother, a warm deep and loving human being to a level I could never say enough… With all the BS that I have heard, read, and seen in MMA , I want you to know and anyone else that has half a brain and any depth at all, you are the best in my book. As time marches on I realize more and more your question of : ” who would you share such value with that would appreciate it” … way too few but know that I am honored that you did with me ! I Love You Brother and thank you for having such a great impact on my life.
